Variety* (asterisk) Denotes variety as open-pollinated, and in most cases a legitimate heirloom.

Growth habit: Det = Determinate (Grows to a certain height, then stops. Most of crop is borne within a 4 to 6 week period.) Ind = Indeterminate (Continues to grow and bear fruit all through the growing season. Perhaps not as many fruits on at one time as determinate types, but may produce more overall because of extended harvest season.)

80  Ind Heirloom beefsteak has flavor so rich that it rivals Brandywine. Deep pink fruits are 12-16 oz. Potato leaved vines.  2
 Aunt Ruby's German Green*  80  Ind  Large green beefsteak ripens to a pale green with a hint of yellow. Sweet and spicy flavor.  2, 4
 Azoychka*  85 Ind   Old Russian beefsteak, weighing about 10 oz. Beautiful deep yellow color. The flavor is tart with a hint of citrus.  1, 2

 Beefmaster Hybrid  80 Ind A favorite for solid, meaty, red fruit that can top 2#  1, 2,6,18,23

 Bitchyen Gertzeh (Bull's Heart    Ind  A very old Russian variety grown for BRAGGING! Very difficult, for the experienced grower only!  10

 Brag*    Ind  Huge 1-2# early and productive beefsteak. This O.P. tomato from Peters compares well with the new hybrids.  8
 Brandywine*  90 Ind  Large pink-red fruits, slightly flattened. Huge vines with potato-like leaves. Amish variety grown since 1885. The standard for beefsteak texture and flavor.  1,2,3,4,6,8,9, 11,12,13,14, 15,18,20,21, 22, 23
 Bush Beef  62 Det  Rich red fruits average 8 oz. The plants are bushy and compact.  1
 Cherokee Purple*  80 Ind  Cherokee Indian origin, introduced in Tennessee. Bears 10-12 oz dusky rose/purple fruits that are delicate and a true taste treat.  1,2,4,12,14, 21
 Coustralee*  82 Ind  French beefsteak. A red, flattened, and slightly ribbed shape. Very meaty with a deep red interior.  2
 Crimson Cushion 80  80 Ind  Very old beefsteak produces large ribbed, thick fleshed, irregular fruits. Can weigh up to 2#  1
 Dad's Mug*  90 Ind  Blocky, mug-shaped pink-red with meaty interior. Good for stuffing and paste as well as fresh eating.  2,13
 Delicious  77 Ind  Large meaty beefsteak, with very vigorous vines. Fruits are oblong and red, few seeds.  1,2,9,13
 Flavour Steak    Ind  Bred by Peters for extra-early large size, strong aroma and rich sweet taste. Crack resistant bright red 1-1 1/2# fruits.  8
 Georgia Streak*  90 Ind   A beautiful bi-colored beefsteak that is predominantly golden yellow with a red blush. Fruits range in size from 1-2# and have a sweet fruity taste.  2

 German Johnson*  70 Ind  Pennsylvania Dutch heirloom. One of the "parents of Mortgage Lifter, this is a rich-tasting medium sized pink tomato. Large yields .  1,2,3
 Giant Belgium*  90 Ind  These dark pink, solid fruits are very sweet and can be gigantic.  1, 2, 23
 Golden Boy  88 Ind  A great tasting deep yellow tomato. Taste-test winner. Pick slightly under-ripe as fruits are delicate.  1,2,3,6,18, 23
 Golden Ponderosa  80 Ind  Large vigorous vines produce golden-yellow fruits that are low acid, mild and sweet. Slightly flattened and smooth.  1
 Hugh's*  90 Ind  Tall, heavy plants produce large, up to 2#, pale yellow fruits with a touch of red on the blossom end. Meaty and delicious.  2, 10, 21
 Italian Giant Beef*  84 Ind   Italian old-timer! Deep red beefsteak type, with 4" diameter slightly flattened fruits, weighing up to 1#. Good yields.  1, 23
 Johnny's 361 VF2NT  64 Det  Delicious bush beefsteak.Red, meaty, slightly flattened fruits average 8 oz.  4
 Kiev*   Ind  Sprawling plants with 1-2# squarish looking rough pink fruits. Very meaty, juicy and excellent flavor. Good for processing.  SSE (17)
 Mark Twain*  75     Fruits ripen with a distinctive red ribbing set on yellow fruits, finally turning red. Average 20oz.  13
 Mortgage Lifter*  90 Ind   Old pink variety, named after a man paid off his farm debt with his tomato profits!  1,2,12,13, 21, 22

 Nepal  78 Ind  Originally from the Himalayan Mountains. Large deep red fruits average 12 oz. This old variety will bear even in cool weather.  2
 Old Flame*  80 Ind  Smooth and creamy, big, lobed beefsteak-style fruits are sunny yellow and shot through with rose red.  16
 Old German*  75 Ind  Originally grown in Virgina in a Mennonite community. Golden-yellow with pink and red strips that go right to the center.  1, 2, 23
 Oxheart Giantissimo  85 Ind   Nice for stuffing. Huge heart-shaped fruitshave a solid interior and few seeds.  19,
 Ponderosa Red  85 Ind  Old time extra large mild beefsteak. Fruits are meaty and low acid.  1, 7
 
Sandul Moldovan*
 85 Ind  Exceptionally good flavored beefsteak, slightlyflattened and large. From the Moldavan region in Europe.  2
 Tiffen Mennonite*  80 Ind  Heirloom variety with dark-pink 4" fruits that are very firm and flavorful. Similar to Brandywine.  1,2,3
 Watermelon*  75 Ind  This heirloom dates back to the 1800,s. If given space and support the pink/red fruits can wigh up to 2#!  1,2,13
 Yellow Brandywine*  95 Ind  Vigorous potato-leaf plants produce 12-24 oz golden-yellow irregular fruits. Texture like its pink "sister".  1, 2, 4, 15, 22, 23
